Argenta is a contract research organisation (CRO) and contract development and manufacturing organisation (CDMO) working exclusively in animal health and nutrition. Founded in 2006 by the scientist Doug Cleverly, the company takes products from molecule to market, covering pre-clinical research, clinical studies, GMP manufacturing, regulatory affairs and product development for both pets and livestock. It describes itself as the only global CRO and CDMO focused solely on this sector.
Manufacturing is a substantial part of the business. Across global facilities, Argenta produces more than 125 commercial products and over 600 different SKUs for animal health and nutrition customers. Its technical work spans veterinary science, pharmaceutical development and animal nutrition science, alongside engineering and regulatory affairs.
The company employs more than 900 professionals in science, veterinary, engineering and regulatory disciplines, organised in a global team structure across New Zealand, the United States, the United Kingdom and Europe. Industry verticals served include animal health, animal nutrition, pharmaceuticals, pet care and livestock.
