Certara applies artificial intelligence, biosimulation and predictive analytics to drug development, selling both proprietary software and technology-enabled services to pharmaceutical, biotechnology and clinical research organisations. Its AI work sits alongside a set of established quantitative platforms: Simcyp, a physiologically-based pharmacokinetic system for predicting dosing, safety and efficacy; Phoenix, a biosimulation platform used across development stages; and Certara IQ, an integrated environment for model-informed drug development. Two products are explicitly AI-facing: Certara.AI, which embeds artificial intelligence in drug-development workflows, and CoAuthor, an assistant for scientific and regulatory document drafting.
The wider portfolio spans data standards and regulatory infrastructure. Pinnacle 21 validates clinical data against CDISC standards, SEND Explorer analyses CDISC SEND nonclinical datasets, and GlobalSubmit supports electronic regulatory submissions. D360 provides scientific data access and visualisation for discovery research, while BaseCase handles value communication for market access. The technical domains in which the company works include modeling and simulation, biometrics and data science, real-world evidence, clinical pharmacology and regulatory science.
Certara employs more than 1,550 people in over 30 countries, with more than 28% of staff holding PhDs. It serves upwards of 2,400 biopharmaceutical companies, academic institutions and regulatory agencies across 70 countries. The workforce is distributed globally, and the stated orientation of the organisation is toward scientific and regulatory expertise.
