The Child Mind Institute is an independent national nonprofit working on children's mental health and learning disorders across three areas: care, education and science. Its technical work spans neuroscience research, clinical diagnostics, telehealth delivery of evidence-based treatment, and the production of digital educational resources. Clinical centres in New York City and the San Francisco Bay Area treat thousands of children each year, in person and remotely.
On the research side, the Healthy Brain Network enrolls children for diagnostic evaluations at no cost; more than 8,500 have taken part to date. The organisation's Family Resource Center publishes free online material for families on subjects including ADHD, anxiety, autism, depression, behaviour problems and screen time, reaching millions of families a year. Clinical partnerships extend across five continents.
The institute does not accept pharmaceutical funding, a policy intended to preserve its independence. Its stated emphasis is on gold-standard, evidence-based treatment and on free access to services where possible, including no-cost diagnostic evaluations.
