EdSights builds AI-powered SMS chatbots that colleges and universities use to fight student attrition. The company's platform engages students through text-message conversations, gathering non-cognitive data about their experience of college and automatically flagging when a student is struggling. Institutions then connect those students to on-campus resources before problems escalate. The system reports a 62% student engagement rate, and is used by more than 300 colleges and universities across the United States.
The technical work spans conversational AI, SMS messaging, non-cognitive data analytics, predictive analytics for student success, and the real-time data pipelines behind intervention insights. Engineers and data scientists work on models that surface early warning signals from unstructured conversational data - a domain where the underlying research base is still developing and the company describes its own approach as research-backed.
EdSights operates in the higher-education, education-technology and student-retention verticals. The company has raised $80M from JMI Equity, and was named to Fast Company's Most Innovative Education Companies of 2025; its work has also been covered by The Washington Post.
It was founded by sisters Carolina and Claudia Recchi, first-generation U.S. college students from Italy, out of their own experience with gaps in American higher-education support systems. The company's stated premise is that the student voice is central to improving higher education, with a vision of a student-centred system in which every voice shapes the learning environment.
