Epia Neuro is a neural technology company based in San Francisco that is building a minimally invasive brain-computer interface platform. Its purpose is to detect neural intent and restore motor control for stroke survivors. The work sits at the intersection of brain-computer interfaces, neural sensing and stimulation, real-time neural decoding, bioelectronics and machine learning, with proprietary intelligence used to interpret neural signals.
The company's platform has three components. A proprietary brain interface captures neural signals without piercing the dura and is designed to be implanted in under an hour by any neurosurgeon. A decoder system converts those signals into precise digital commands in real time, continuously learning and refining accuracy for each patient. A lightweight grip-assist wearable, developed with extensive collaboration from stroke survivors, advocates and clinicians, is built for daily life rather than the lab.
Epia Neuro operates in healthcare and medical devices, with a focus on neurotechnology, stroke rehabilitation and neurology, including post-stroke motor impairment, cognitive decline, Parkinson's disease and epilepsy. The stated aim is restoring function and independence for people living with neurological conditions. Founder Michel Maharbiz previously built iota Biosciences, a bioelectronics startup acquired by Astellas.
