Kraken Robotics is a Canadian marine technology company that develops underwater imaging, sensors and robotic systems for subsea intelligence. Founded in 2012 and headquartered in Mount Pearl, Newfoundland and Labrador, the company began with Synthetic Aperture Sonar (SAS) as its founding technology focus and now supplies systems that improve seabed survey capability. Its technical work spans sonar, subsea sensing and underwater imaging, subsea robotics, navigation and positioning, subsea communications, power systems, monitoring and data analytics.
Product lines include SAS systems, next-generation high-density, pressure-tolerant subsea battery technology, and integrated subsea solutions that combine sonar, navigation, positioning, imaging, power, communications, monitoring and data analytics. The stated aim of these systems is to enable safer, more efficient and data-driven decision-making in complex marine environments.
The company serves customers in defence, offshore energy and ocean science in more than 30 countries, with offices across North America, Europe and beyond. On July 2, 2026, Kraken Robotics acquired Covelya Group, adding Sonardyne, EIVA, Forcys, Voyis and Chelsea Technologies. Kraken describes itself as having evolved from a regional innovator into a multinational organisation.
