Marmon Holdings, Inc. is a global industrial holding company headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, and a wholly owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway. It comprises more than 120 autonomous businesses organized into 11 industry groups, employs approximately 30,000 team members worldwide, and reports annual revenue of $13 billion.
The company's businesses operate across a range of industrial and technical fields, including industrial manufacturing, medical technologies, water solutions, foodservice technologies, retail solutions, transportation products, rail services, electrical products, plumbing and refrigeration, metal services, crane services, and industrial products. This breadth of sectors provides exposure to varied engineering and applied-technology problems, from equipment and infrastructure to medical and process technologies.
Marmon runs what it calls The Marmon Method, an operating model that leaves local companies autonomous while supplying centralized support, financial strength and strategic resources. The group was founded in the 1950s by brothers Jay Pritzker and Robert Pritzker; the name honors the Marmon Motor Car Company (1902–1933), maker of the Marmon Wasp that won the first Indianapolis 500 in 1911. Chairman and chief executive Angelo Pantaleo joined in 1991 and took up his current role in December 2018.
