Veridian Credit Union is a member-owned, not-for-profit financial cooperative offering consumer and business banking services. It was founded in 1934 as the John Deere Employees Credit Union, serving John Deere manufacturing workers in Waterloo, Iowa. The institution has since grown into one of the largest credit unions in Iowa and operates across Iowa, Nebraska and Minnesota. Its routing number is 273976369, and deposits are federally insured by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA).
The credit union provides a range of lending and deposit products, including low-rate auto loans, mortgage lending, high-yield savings accounts and rewarding checking accounts, alongside a full suite of business banking services. It is recognised as a top lender in Iowa and has been ranked #7 in the United States for returning value to members.
As a cooperative, Veridian is governed by a democratically elected board of directors through which members have a voice, and it states that it exists to serve members' interests rather than shareholder profit. Its stated philosophy is "people helping people". The organisation reports a collaborative work environment in which employees build careers while contributing to their communities, and it funds nonprofits, provides scholarships and offers financial education resources, with a stated commitment to inclusion and community development.
