WireScreen is a risk intelligence platform that maps and decodes China's global business networks. Founded in 2019 by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist David Barboza, the company applies the investigative methods of its founder's reporting background - including his work at The New York Times on China's 'princeling' networks - to the problems of corporate due diligence, compliance and supply chain mapping.
The WireScreen Platform draws on hundreds of difficult-to-access primary sources, among them corporate filings, trade data, patents and procurement documents, to surface hidden ownership, affiliations and risks. Its technical work spans open-source intelligence, data aggregation, entity resolution and analytics, producing a database of more than 20 million Chinese company profiles and 37 million executives and individuals. The platform is used by government agencies, think tanks and enterprises; customers include United States government agencies, while data coverage centres on China.
WireScreen operates across several verticals: government and defence, financial services and compliance, trade and supply chain, research, and enterprise due diligence. The company describes its work as mission-driven, oriented around high-stakes accuracy where missing a connection is a liability.
