Government Employees Health Association, Inc. (GEHA) is a nonprofit health and dental benefit provider serving federal employees, retirees, military retirees and their families. Founded in 1937 by postal employees as a small mutual aid society, the association is headquartered in Lee's Summit, Missouri, and today covers more than 2 million lives nationwide through access to a network of millions of healthcare providers. It is among the largest health and dental benefit providers in the United States, operating with approximately 1,600 employees.
The organisation's technical domains span health benefits administration, dental benefits administration, telehealth services, Medicare Advantage plans and wellness reward programmes. Its product portfolio includes Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB) plans, Postal Service Health Benefits (PSHB) plans, FEDVIP dental plans - offering comprehensive coverage with no in-network deductibles or waiting periods - and Medicare Advantage offerings. Member wellness incentive programmes award up to $500 to $1,000 annually.
GEHA operates as a member-built association and reinvests profits into benefits and services rather than distributing them to shareholders. Community activity runs through the G.E.H.A Gives programme and the Learn to Swim Program, which has reached more than 5,000 students. The association also partners with veteran support organisations, including Carry the Load, the Elizabeth Dole Foundation and Folds of Honor.
