The International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) is a global non-profit organisation founded in 1969. Headquartered in Yarmouth Port, Massachusetts, it operates across more than 40 countries on six continents and the ocean. Its mission is to help animals and people thrive together through animal welfare, conservation, rescue, and habitat protection.
Since 2000, IFAW has rescued more than 275,000 animals. Among its conservation outcomes, the organisation has improved dolphin release rates from one in ten to three in four. IFAW partners with local communities, governments, NGOs, and businesses, combining research with field action to pioneer solutions for wildlife and habitat challenges.
The organisation works across the animal welfare and conservation verticals, addressing issues ranging from marine mammal protection to anti-poaching efforts and human-wildlife coexistence. Its approach integrates community engagement, policy advocacy, and direct rescue operations across its global footprint.
