Karman, formerly known as Utilidata, is an AI company that works on the power constraints facing data centers. Its software dynamically orchestrates power and applies real-time power-flow control to complex energy infrastructure, with the aim of unlocking additional compute capacity from energy that is already available. The company reports more than a decade of experience applying AI to the electric grid.
The core product, the Karman Platform, is a dynamic power orchestration platform built on a custom NVIDIA module. It is designed to deliver high-resolution visibility and ultra-fast control for AI data centers, in order to identify trapped capacity and optimise energy consumption across both the data centre and the grid. Karman's AI platform is also being integrated into data centre PDUs and power shelves through a partnership with Legrand.
Technical work spans AI, electric grid optimisation, real-time power-flow control, dynamic power orchestration and data center power management. The company serves data centers, industrial facilities, power generation and the wider energy sector, and is headquartered in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
