Pragma builds an extensible, scalable backend game engine purpose-built for live service multiplayer games. The engine is delivered with full source access, allowing studios to run it locally, extend any component and customise the engine itself rather than merely adjusting configuration. The company says its platform is trusted by more than 2,000 game studios worldwide.
The engine encompasses a suite of backend services that would otherwise need to be built in-house: matchmaking, cross-platform accounts, social features, commerce, player data management, live operations tooling, and telemetry and analytics. It also supports scalability and load testing. Named enterprise customers include Square Enix, Sony, EA, Krafton and Bungie.
On scale, Pragma reports supporting more than 400,000 concurrent players at peak during production launches, and over 1,000,000 concurrent players in load testing. The company operates worldwide and serves the gaming vertical, specifically live service multiplayer games and game development studios.
Pragma was founded by industry veterans with experience at Riot Games, PopCap, Google, Amazon and EA. Its stated aim is to let developers focus on creating compelling games while relying on battle-tested infrastructure, in service of healthy and vibrant online communities.
