Public Health Solutions (PHS) is New York City's largest public health nonprofit. Founded in 1957, originally as the Medical and Health Research Association (MHRA), the organisation has operated for more than six decades and works across all five boroughs of New York City. Its stated mission is to support vulnerable families in achieving optimal health and reaching their full potential.
The organisation works through three channels: delivering services directly to families, funding community partners, and leading a city-wide network of social service providers. Its programmes address health and social needs together. These include WholeYouNYC, a free community resource network connecting healthcare and social services; a food assistance programme helping families access nutrition support; health insurance enrolment assistance; and maternal and child health services.
Public Health Solutions operates in the public health, nonprofit, social services and healthcare access sectors, with particular focus on maternal and child health and food assistance. Health equity is described as a central part of its mission, and the organisation works where New Yorkers live, work and raise families.
