Raise the Future is a nonprofit working in child welfare in the United States. Founded in 1983, it helps young people in foster care build lifelong relationships with caring adults by recruiting and preparing foster, adoptive, and kinship families, and by supporting them after a child joins. Its guiding premise is that every young person deserves a dependable adult; its approach to reaching that goal is trauma-informed and continues beyond placement.
The organisation's services span the whole arc of family connection. It publishes heart galleries and adoption profiles so families can understand the needs of children waiting for adoption and consider fit. Once a child is placed, caregivers receive Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) training, in-home and virtual coaching, peer support groups, respite and crisis support, transition assistance and navigation to local resources. Ongoing clinical services are provided to youth and families.
Raise the Future works alongside child welfare professionals, government agencies, nonprofits and community organisations to secure permanent connections for youth. Its programs run across multiple states in the United States. The organisation describes itself as mission-driven, with a collaborative orientation and a commitment to supporting families well past the point of placement.
