Chevron Federal Credit Union is a member-owned, not-for-profit financial cooperative founded in 1935. It provides a full range of consumer financial services - including home mortgages, auto loans, personal loans, credit cards, checking and savings accounts, IRAs and HSAs - to employees and families of Chevron, Bechtel and select partner employers, as well as to their wider communities. Membership extends worldwide.
The institution holds over $5 billion in total assets and serves more than 135,000 members, placing it among the top 1% of credit unions by asset size. Members gain surcharge-free access to approximately 85,000 ATMs through the CO-OP Shared Branch network. In 2012 the credit union joined forces with Spectrum Credit Union to broaden its reach and resources.
As a cooperative, the organisation is owned by its members rather than outside shareholders. It states a singular focus on improving members' financial well-being, expressed through competitive loan rates, higher dividends on savings and lower fees than traditional banks, alongside service delivered across multiple channels. Its deposit accounts are described as paying higher dividends on savings than those of traditional banks.
