About

DREAM is a nonprofit network of free, public charter schools founded in 1991, originally beginning as a volunteer-run baseball league. The organisation operates extended-day, extended-year schools in East Harlem and the Bronx in New York City, serving over 2,600 students from pre-K through 12th grade. Approximately 25% of its student body has special needs, reflecting a commitment to inclusive education.

Its educational model, termed "Grow the Whole Child," combines rigorous academics with social-emotional learning, health and wellness programming, and family and community engagement. DREAM Charter Schools form the core of the organisation's programming.

DREAM is a nonprofit organisation reliant on philanthropic support. Its presence spans two New York City boroughs - East Harlem and the Bronx - within the education and youth development sectors.
